Seems like the team could use a little pep talk. I wonder how receptive to it they’ll each be.
And cue George Michael singing Father Figure before he’s even born. :p
Oh gods, he’s received praise and approval from a father figure…just, not HIS father figure. Get ready for some fireworks, folks – nobody know where this kid’s head is going to go now XD
having your father figure be a guy who probably’s going to have to sacrifice you for the good of the mission one day is going to mess a man’s head up.
I don’t think Henry’s gotten that far in his thinking, yet. However, I wonder if he will eventually be more willing to do so for Hightower than he would for his old man. Now THAT would be interesting.
I’m not too surprised. The fact that so many without training got anywhere AT ALL is damn near miraculous, and Hightower’s no dummy.
I’m also not surprised that Henry is so shocked. He is an Olympic athlete(which holds performance to a pretty high standard), and I suspect his personal expectations of what he’s capable of are also high and possibly unrealistic. His desire to please his father has no doubt affected his judgement regarding his capability to such a degree that anything less than the best is simply unacceptable. This creates the possibility of an unexpected bond between Henry and the General. Despite the fact that Henry’s a dick, I hope this starts to give him a more balanced(and not quite so rigid) self-appraisal of his own abilities. I wonder, if Henry starts to lighten up, will he stop wearing those ugly-ass vests?
I wonder what(if anything) Henry’s father would say to him now.
Also, I wonder what Hightower’ll say(if anything) to Hartmann?
Hee, hee, hee. I like how Mark is kinda messing with Agnes.
I know this is meant to be a pep talk, but to me it seems a bit ominous. I don’t like it.
“Congrats! We’re sending you out again! Shore Leave is Cancelled!”
Traditional, you know. The reward for a good job is another job.
the Peter Principle in action. Every string of successes means the brass will trust them with more dangerous and sensitive missions, until they finally reach one they can’t handle.
Judging by the deconstructive themes and the results of their last mission, I’d say that’ll be in about two more missions
Maybe they’ll classify it as a ‘working vacation’.
Only Jenkins would call killing people a vacation.
“The reward for toil had been more toil. If you dug the best ditches, they gave you a bigger shovel”
Sort of “Alright! Goddammit!”
…I miss him.
There was no body – so he’ll be back( if we’re thinking of the same Jenkins)
I was talking about Terry Pratchett.
Okay then, never mind.
though I was talking about Jenkins beforehand
up above the post talking about the satirical Peter Principle
Oh, I see – just follow Atomic Robo(webcomic) and that’s what I was talking about.
join me and spread the gospel of Jenkins to the ignorant!
No wait, that’s more Doctor Dinosaur’s thing XD
Kinda my thing too. I see Jenkins as another Prophet of Lady Gaia. He’s her vengeance
I guess I can see that, lol
