What is with the French? I need a translation.
It’s a common French children’s song – I’m not sure if there’s an English equivalent.
Good call, James!
Here’s a Wikipedia entry about it (complete with translation). It’s just a silly little song that this girl is singing to herself while she does her chores.
The translation is almost entirely wrong (say it ain’t so – something wrong on Wikipedia?!?). For instance, ‘L’on y dance’ means ‘one dances there’ not ‘Lenny’s dancing !’
Man, I never expected that song to be so controversial. Next time a character is musically inclined, I’ll just have them whistle!
Seriously, though, I did think that “alternate translation” seemed weird. That’s what happens when one cites Wikipedia (or, alternately, when Lenny cites Wikipedia).
I think the alternate translation was a joke…in any event, it’s gone now :).
She’ll be singing Thriller in a second when she finds the escapee from a few weeks ago bloodied and hiding in the barn.
Nah, the rights would cost a fortune!
