Webcomic Spotlight: Your Favorite Comic
You may have read some of my recommendations for great webcomics. There are more comics that I intend to spotlight, but this is a busy week, and I could use a hand. Also, I’m just one guy, and the Internet is a big place, so I’m sure there are many comics that I just haven’t found yet. So here’s your chance to share your favorite webcomics in the comments below. Leave a link, and if you’d like, tell us why the comic is awesome. Also, please give a movie-like rating for the comic (G, PG, R, etc.) as a courtesy to other readers.
Webcomics rely on word of mouth to bring in new readers, so if there’s a comic you enjoy, take a moment to promote it. And if you’re a webcomic creator yourself, don’t be shy: promote yourself!

Well, I guess I’ll go first:
“In a world where the Allies of WWII lost the war and superheroes are believed to be nothing more than pulp fiction, the world is shocked by alarming reports of super villains emerging around the globe to terrorize and wreak havoc.
Archibald Masters, The American Crusader, now an old man, sets out on a mission to find the remaining Golden Age heroes and take DNA samples from them in order to create a new generation of heroes to serve and protect the country that is so dear to his heart.”
I use public domain characters and give them an interesting twist and thats at: http://www.heroes-inc.net
First would be Kreetor (PG-13 to R) for violence: located below.

Erfworld is a comic for gamers.
The concept is a familiar one – a protagonist from the primary world, Parson Gotti, lives vicariously through fantasy games (and his own webcomic-within-a-webcomic) is sucked out of his banal life and into a game-world where he must fight to survive.
Erfworld subverts the premise by making the world reflect a turn-based strategy rather than a run-of-the-mill shooter or adventure game, and further twists the setting by making the world not just a game made ‘real’, but an actual alternate world with laws of physics in which magic is real, time passes in turns, and everything is cartoon-looking complete with humourous sound-effects and profanity filter. Erfworld draws Parson because it just so happens that our gaming and nerd culture and expectations match the reality of Erfworld, not the other way around.
What follows is a playful deconstrution of strategy games wrapped around compelling story of wars, alliances, and unique individual characters. What happens when a world that works like a game meets an expert rules-lawyer? the art, as mentioned, is cartoony and beautifully realised, with the contrast between Parson and the rest of Erfworld sharp but not jarring. It’s one of those works that invites you to spot the jokes, hidden behind the seriousness – Parson is very much the straight man to the world’s comedy.
It updates irregularly, but around once to twice a week, split between comic pages and a variety of text updates which flesh out the setting. To be found at http://www.erfworld.com/
Oh. Rated Teen, I’d say, for the occasional adult theme but pretty much work-safe.
I’m a huge fan of Sarah Ellerton, who just wrapped up another webcomic, Phoenix Requiem: http://requiem.seraph-inn.com/
Rated PG I guess. Everything she makes is absolutely beautiful, so it’s definitely worth checking out the quality she can produce at 4-5 pages per week.
Comic s I read in no particular order: My personal favorites are in bold. R rated or Mature underlined

Tales of a Checkered Man http://www.thecheckeredman.com is a love letter to masked mystery men, caped-crusaders, classic adventure pulps and traditional newspaper strips featuring a rather unorthodox character armed with the best of intentions and a bad case of acrophobia. TOACM is for all-ages readers and updates twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I am really enjoying this comic a lot, keep up the good work! How come there are no banners for people to link you?
Thanks, Arlene! I don’t think I’d seen your comic before, so I’ll check it out this weekend. At a glance, I quite like the art!
As to why we don’t have banners, that’s probably just because we are really bad at self-promotion. But I like the way they look on your links page, so we’ll have to look into making some of our own.
My absolute favourite webcomic is Juathuur: One Way Or Another, and it’s about people with god-given powers and their struggle to achieve their various goals. Lots of fighting, dying and shades of grey. I guess that makes it PG-13?
And rather than listing the other 180 webcomics I read, I think I’ll just provide a link to DJ Coffman’s Hero by Night (PG?), since I think people who like The Specialists would probably enjoy that comic as well. Unfortunately Hero By Night only made it to issue 3 before the plug was pulled by the higher ups, but there’s still a lot to read with the extra material that was posted in between the issues.
Oh, and also check out Jackie Rose! It too shares the same atmosphere, with secret societies and Nazi robots and mad/mystic science. (PG or PG-13 I guess?)
