The Specialists

Surprisingly, I’ve written the script for the next scene without coming dangerously close to leaving Al with nothing to work on, as had started to become the norm. The next scene will be the last one of the chapter, so if all goes according to plan, we should be wrapping up Chapter 1 in early July. That’s just over a year after we launched The Specialists! If you’re thinking that a year is a long time to produce a single chapter, I can’t really argue with you. Our story has a very deliberate pace, and this first chapter lays a lot of groundwork. But our hope is that all of the time we’re taking now will pay off in the long run.

Over the next few months, you’ll be meeting a lot of characters that have only been hinted at so far. Our current scene and the next one are focused on the Nazi Übermenschen. And early in the next chapter, we’ll introduce the rest of The Specialists. Actually, the next several pages are going to be packed with new characters!

Future chapters should be a bit shorter as the pace of the story picks up. We’ve got a lot of story to tell, and we’re just getting started. And we’re just as eager to see it unfold as anyone.

We started this comic simply as a way to collaborate on a project. We’ve enjoyed working together before and we wanted to do it again. And it will always be a labor of love for us. But since our readership has grown over the last ten months, The Specialists has become more than just the novelty project of a couple of college buddies. Having regular readers  — or even, if I may be so bold, fans — forces us to keep the updates coming on time and to keep striving to improve.
