A few weeks back, I mentioned that we were going to be contributing to an anthology of stories from Iraq and Afghanistan vets. The book is the second volume of Untold Stories From Iraq & Afghanistan, from Heroes Fallen Studios.
Today I want to introduce Charles “Big Daddy” Meier, whose story we are adapting. After having served in the Navy and holding jobs that run the gamut from sheriff’s deputy and firefighter to DJ and bouncer, Charles worked as a contractor in Iraq from 2003 to 2006 providing security for government sites and convoys. Though the story that we are adapting is a rather humorous story of pest control in Iraq, Charles’ experiences there were not all funny.

My wife and I saw a midnight screening of The Avengers this morning. I was planning on writing a big review, but frankly, nothing I could say would add anything substantial to the tons of hyperbole that have already been lavished on this movie from every corner of the Internet. What I will do is try to allay some of the concerns I’ve heard from people who haven’t seen it yet. (And just so you know, there are NO spoilers here.)
