Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This has been all over the Internet today, so you’ve probably seen it by now. But if you haven’t, here’s the first trailer for the next Captain America movie, The Winter Soldier. Cap has never been one of my favorite characters, but I have to say, this is looking awesome! I love the shift in tone from the first Captain America movie, and even from the other Marvel movies. Here’s hoping this will be another home run for Marvel!

Level Black

Next week’s page isn’t ready for a preview yet (but I promise it will be on time on Monday!). So in lieu of Friday Foreshadowing, I want to share a powerful video with you.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been given many names over the years. During WWII, it was known as “shell shock,” and our own Captain Luke Jensen suffers from it. In a superhero comic, PTSD can give a character a bit of edgy darkness. But in the real world, it can destroy lives. For a long time, it went untreated. Soldiers were simply expected to man up and deal with it. Even today, the stigma attached to mental health issues makes it hard for some soldiers to seek the help they need. But our understanding of the disorder and how to treat it are improving, slowly.

Watch this soldier’s very personal account of how PTSD has affected him and his family. It’ll break your heart.
