One Bad Apple
Looks like I have a need for a blog post after all. Someone has started posting obscene comments, which forces us to change our comment approval policies.
You will now be required to provide an email address when you comment, and the first comment from a specific email will have to be approved. After you’ve been approved once, you can comment all you like (so long as you don’t do anything that causes us to ban you, of course).
We’re sorry we have to take these measures, but we obviously can’t have a bunch of X-rated comments on what is generally intended to be a PG-13 site.

You’re using Akismet, aren’t you? That and other spam blockers for your comment section are a must have.
A while ago I was working on my site and accidentally de-activated Akismet and in a matter of MINUTES my mailbox was full of about 250 spam comments from the Heroes,inc. site!
Luckily it automatically went through and weeded them out after I reactivated it.
Anyways… guess I’m a little early for the update. It’s already Monday here…
Yep, we are using Akismet, but it didn’t weed out these comments. There were no links in them, and I guess they didn’t match any sort of pattern that it looks for.
No problems mate. The real readers will no doubt still hang on and comment!
Yep, there’s always some moron out there who has to spoil a good thing. Me? I’m just here to get me some webcomic-y goodness! Om-Nom-Nom…
