The Specialists

The date revealed in today’s page is several years after the date from the prologue. History buffs will probably notice that the story is now taking place after World War II ended. This will make more sense soon, but for now, you’ll just have to trust me when I say that this was not a mistake.

We’re trying very hard to avoid unintentional historical inaccuracies. It’s ironic, I know: once you’ve introduced superpowers, “realism” seems like a moot point. But our goal was to start from a basis of real history, introduce a single point of divergence, and then speculate on how the events of the real war would have been affected by that change. That moment of divergence was the discovery of the artifact referred to as “the Orb” in the prologue. You’ll see in due time how this item changed the course of our imaginary history.

Of course, we’re not historians, and we’re sure to get a detail wrong here or there. If you spot an error, feel free to leave a comment or drop me a line. Maybe I can figure out a way to explain how it all makes sense in the context of our alternate history!
