We’re taking the week off, so in lieu of a new page of The Specialists, we’re running a whole week of What’d I Miss. This comic is created by our friends R. Alan Brooks (writer) and Cori Redford (artist). It’s the story of Myra, who has just awoken from a thirty-year coma, and is trying to figure out her strange new world with the help of her friend and neighbor Ossie. Alan and Cori have shared the seven pages we’ll be featuring this week because of their unfortunately timely themes of racial inequality.

Alan is a writer, teacher, podcaster, and rapper. In addition to What’d I Miss, he’s written the comic series The Burning Metronome and the upcoming graphic novel Anguish Garden. (Shawn appeared on an episode of his podcast Motherf**ker in a Cape.)

Cori is a fixture of the Denver art scene. She’s done more guest art for The Specialists than any other artist, with four entries to her name. You can see more of her work on her Facebook page and you can buy her creations on her Redbubble page.

What’d I Miss runs in The Colorado Sun, and you can also follow its Facebook page.

We’ll have another page of What’d I Miss every day this week (even over the weekend), so be sure to come back!
