In reply to Dr. Oc.

It is a bit confusing. Back in 2000, Marvel launched their "Ultimate" line of comics. These were based on established characters from their normal line, but existed in their own separate continuity. They basically rebooted the classic titles, with new origin stories and new interpretations of the characters. The idea was that this would give new readers a good "jumping on point". Anyone who was intimidated by the hundreds of back issues and complex mythology of one of the established characters could instead read these new versions. But as I said, these titles existed in a different reality from the main Marvel Universe, so Ultimate Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man have nothing to do with each other, except that they're two distinct takes on the same character. That's what Cameron meant when he said that Ultimate Spider-Man isn't really Spider-Man, because in Amazing, Spectacular, Web of, etc., Peter Parker is still alive.

Could some one enlighten me about the differences between "ultimate" & "standard" spidey?! I know I could google it, but it says Discussion up there.
I stumbled over these racist rants on quite some websites, but I´m not that well informed about the current superheros besides general knowledge. (I only read those by Alex Ross, the other stuff isn´t that big over here in Europe)

See, I don't get this type of debate. Yes, Peter Parker was white. Spiderman was unknown. He could have been anyone. That was the point. Normal kid gifted with amazing powers.
