In reply to Shawn Gustafson. I remember when the Iraq war started, we had flak vests that could not even stop a simple single 9mm bullet and people began to purchase vests with inlays like mad. Being with the German Federal Armed Forces, we did not see action there, though. Years later, when we got our turn in Afghanistan, the situation was still the same with(-out) protection. The good old AK-47/AK-74 punches nice ventilation holes in any of the issued flak vests. (I dropped out the forces beforehand, so I had no part in the expedition.)

I forgot to mention this in the blog post: In the early days of the war in Iraq, the Army had a shortage of body armor (Donald Rumsfeld: “…you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want…”), so many soldiers’ families purchase armor out of pocket and shipped it to them.

Are the teflon flies genetically grown? Also, interesting logo for the flies, the Mickey Mouse gloves just give it class and flair. 🙂 As for all the bugs and their tendency to bite; well, if I lived there, I’d probably be the same way! 🙂
