Real evil doesn't walk around with an eyepatch and a scar to announce itself. Frankly, Hitler did some good for Germany, too. He got the trains to run on time, commissioned the autobahn and VW and pulled Germany out the the worst depression in the history of that country. This is why he was so popular with the Germans. For all I know he may have even had a wonderful singing voice. Militarily, his largest failing was that he tried to micro-manage the war (which was a good thing for us since his generals were very savvy when left to their own devices.)
As a fellow writer I encourage you to go with your muse and tell the story they way you want to. If some people complain, well, that's good. It shows that they are paying attention!

I'm glad you think so, Wolf. When I initially wrote this scene, I was concerned that Hitler came across as a little too avuncular. Not that I thought he should be wild-eyed and screaming all the time, but I also wasn't sure if he should seem like a really nice guy to work for. I talked it over with Al, and we decided that there was no real reason for Hitler to behave any other way under the circumstances, so we left the scene as I'd initially written it. But it's nice to get some validation.

Without spoiling things too much, I will say that the five Übermenschen that have been introduced so far do owe their powers to the Baron's archeological work. But as Wolf says, the powers on display don't directly correlate to items from mythology.

In the prologue, we saw that Baron von Schädel found an item that he referred to only as "the Orb" in 1941. Four years later, we see that he has been digging up all kinds of legendary artifacts, but has apparently not been able to replicate his initial success. So for now, make of that what you will. As I always say, all will be revealed in time...

As a student of mythology, I doubt that. Nowhere is there an artifact that turns a man into living metal. But it does give me a thought or two. If all the heroes of myth are real in this Specialistverse, I would shoot for Samson's hair...the first batch shorn at Delilah's command as it would surely have been a prized trophy...and weave it into a belt that would grant great strength. The hitch? Those who use the power for evil are struck blind! Go raiding the Greek pantheon and you'll find all kinds of goodies.

Metzger works for me! I always liked the descriptive names that gave a look into the character. Prime example of this is Jim Corrigan, aka the Spectre. In the Gaelic a Corrigan IS a spectre. Spoooooky! However, Mengele would have been acceptable as long as he was portayed as the nasty bastich that he was. To make him seem like a nice guy, well, THAT would have been in poor taste! But Metzger is a cool alternative.
