Personally, and this is just me, but I think Doktor Metzger, mutated or not, would be far more valuable as a thorn in a certain arrogant, aristocratic, Baronly backside. 😀

Huh. I was actually making a joke about what would happened if this was regular american superhero comic(I like them actually, it’s just since no amount of creative genius can survive being asked to put out about page per day for years and not run out of ideas, they tend to get… predictable after a while.)
But now that you mentioned it, him trying it in an act of desperation without having a twin to test the dose sounds like actually probable cause of action considering rules of storytelling.
Of course, this being the comic it is, it might just cut to him mutating and dying an anticlimaticatic*, painful death.
* – well, considering he’s a Nazi doctor who has performed medical experiments on Jewish people, it can be also called fanservice, I guess. I mean it’s a WW2 comic, people EXPECT Nazis dying.

Exactly. The Baron would probably assume that Doktor Metzger’s death is inevitable. But just at this moment, he’s not really thinking about Metzger at all. He just wants to go hold the Orb close and make it promise to never leave him again.

Yes, losing the Orb, even briefly, shook the Baron’s confidence. For that brief moment, he was no longer in control, and he felt vulnerable, and that is something he doesn’t deal with very well.
