Weird story: I fell asleep reading the Secret History of Marvel Comics (http://www.amazon.com/The-Secret-History-Marvel-Comics/dp/1606995529) which is largely about the pulp origins of the publishing company that eventually became Marvel Comics. Anyway, I had a dream that Shawn and Al had created not just a WWII comic, but a meta “history” about the publication of said comic, including disagreements between management and artists about creative decisions, people getting fired, people quitting after getting cheated out of royalties due to bookkeeping shenanigans, etc etc.

Oh yeah, if Max just went to Hightower from the beginning and said "Listen, I couldn't get the robot to work, but I have developed this cool tank-bot," Hightower would have been quite pleased. It's Max's childish fear of getting into trouble or letting down authority figures that keeps him from coming clean, and it's really too bad. (Also, despite his fears, there's obviously a wish fulfillment aspect to piloting the Golem into battle.)

still bugs me that Max dosn’t admit the golem needs a driver.
“Sorry, no automated killing mechines. Just mechs, which are obviously of no strategic value.”
I mean tanks are great, but exoskelitons which probably don’t take much training to drive? Those would be pretty great.
