I like the idea that the superhero I want is there somewhere under that haze of rage and grain alcohol. heh

Remember that the flashback was something Hartmann was thinking — and by his expression, not thinking too fondly of. To be sure, it’s his main loyalty at the moment, but it’s not his sole motivation.

Of course, the ideal would be for them to run into his brother as an ubermensch, and he has to kill him to protect his teammates or some prisoners. A bit hard on Hartmann, to be sure.

That’s a good point! Even if he’s no longer a “bad guy,” that doesn’t mean he’s on the same page as the rest of the team.

This song wasn’t actually written just for this scene. About a year ago, I asked my friend Cameron to write a song about Lady Liberty in the style of the “crooners” of the 1940s: kind of sappy and kind of propagandist. I just thought it would be cool to have something like that as a setting element, and I think he nailed it.

You definitely have our permission to perform it, and I’m sure Cameron would be honored as well.
