Hart is also used to refer to a deer. Hartmann could also be interpreted as 'one who hunts deer' and his entire name as 'a lion who hunts deer'.

In reply to <a href="https://thespecialistscomic.com/comic/page-120/#comment-2167">ShawnGustafson</a>.

In modern German, 'hart' means, well 'hard', in any sense of the word.
Historically, it also meant 'wood' or 'forest', in southern dialects.
Seing his former behaviour, this seems a fitting label, even if he is currently being shy and full of regret.

Hartmann is by far more common as a surname for the last centuries.
The last people listed with Hartmann as a first name on Wikipedia are born between 1900 and 1950, which probably would suggest the name being in use but not too common during WWII.
It was more common during medieval times, though.

Overall not the most unlikely name you chose for this comic.
I had a good laugh with Kapitän Deutschland, though.

I agree. But for me personally, it's a matter of if he is truly repentant or merely afraid of punishment. If the surviving 'Gemini' brother killed in him revenge for what he did, I would not cry over him.
