Mystery solved! Congratulations to the commenters who guessed The Bombardier’s secret. We’ll reveal more about Airman Johns and why he’s forced to hide his race in the coming pages, but for now, remember that our story takes place during a time when racism was much more prevalent than it is today, and the armed forces had not yet been integrated.
