With this page, Al began using a new penciling technique. The initial rough drawing is done with a blue pencil. Then he uses a regular pencil to tighten up the lines and add detail. After scanning the artwork into his computer, he can easily remove the rough blue lines, resulting in a cleaner drawing. It also ends up being a little less work, so that’s a bonus!
