Hi, everyone,

Now that we’re starting to get some comments on our blog posts and comic pages, I wanted to take a moment to discuss Gravatars.

We use the blogging package, WordPress, with ComicPress, a popular theme made specifically for webcomics. Both are free, open-source products, and we love them dearly. However, they do not provide a way for readers to select or create an “avatar” image to represent them when they comment. Instead, WordPress supports Gravatars.

A Gravatar is an avatar image that is associated with your email address. Once you’ve set one up, it will automatically appear with your comments on any site that supports them. To get a Gravatar, just click over to http://gravatar.com and follow the directions. It’s free, and it couldn’t be easier.

Once you’ve got your Gravatar, feel free to show it off by posting a comment. Just make sure that you enter the same email that you used on the Gravatar site. (It may take a couple of minutes for the Gravatar to start showing up.)

Hope to hear from you,

Shawn

(Of course, you don’t have to get a Gravatar to post comments. If you don’t, you will be assigned one of our Specialists-specific avatar images using some kind of computer magic based on your email address. But we have no control over that, so if you’re a guy, and you get a girl character, and that kind of thing annoys you, we won’t be able to help you.)
