Love him leaving in the last panel!
there dangerous it seams
I haven’t actually looked up the word, but it seems that “Schnell” may be a german work for ‘quick’ or ‘fast’. I say this because one of the Medic’s quotes from Team Fortress 2 is “Move, schnell;” well, that’s assuming I got the pronounciation correct. Just wondering if I’m right…
On another note, it seems we have two Maxs now, each who’s last name is possibly a play on words. For our Max in the Specialists group, the last name Finkelstein sounds very much like Frankenstein; which certainly seems fitting for the character and what he does.
Just throwing that out; and assuming I’m write, I enjoy the references.
You’re right about Max Schnell. It’s a play on words based on the German phrase “macht schnell,” which translates literally into something like “make speed,” but basically is the same as saying “hurry up!” And yes, this is the second “Max” character we have, though in Max Schnell’s case, that’s a code name.
I have to admit that I’d never noticed the similarity between “Finkelstein” and “Frankenstein,” but I can see how you’d make that connection. The truth is much less interesting, I’m afraid. I knew a Finkelstein family when I was younger, and that name has always struck me as a quintessential Jewish name, so it seemed like a good choice when I created Max.
Whoops, looks like someone spilled their drink on those poor soldiers’ throats.
