Denver Comic Con
June 30 - July 2, 2017
I forgot to mention last week that we’re taking another trip into the past to add some pages to our earlier chapters. This is the first of six pages that will go between pages 4 and 5 at the beginning of Chapter 1.
Thanks for the explanation. I was afraid that this was in one of the comics Hartmann brought Max. O.o
Propaganda films and comics are uniformly overdramatic and quite often pretty bad. ><
What are you talking about? This is some of my best writing ever!
Hee, hee,you did notice that I used the phrase “…quite often…” to separate you from the riff-raff. ^^
This page is pretty nuanced compared to some of the heavy-handed stuff I’ve seen.
You should look back at page 4&5.
It is not one of the Comic books max is reading right now. But that is about all there is to it.
Great shades of “Curses! Foiled again!” (He probably tied her to a railroad track in an earlier “adventure”. Y’know, because that always works)
It is driving me nuts, but I have seen that rocket style before in an old Bugs Bunny cartoon, or some similar show. I’d search for it on YouTube, but the last time I did the search engine choked.
If this were any other villain, he’d probably say “Zounds!” about something, However, the reader would probably wonder “‘Sounds’? Why the hell did that nefarious naybob say that?”(Of course, it isn’t a TRUE 1940’s comic until somebody says “Jeepers!” about something)
Ooh, he’s just chomping at the bit to call someone a dolt! You know he wants to. 🙂
“You fiendish fiend! I’ll defeat you with the power of LIBERTY! And FREEDOM! And Christmas! And puppies. And baseball! And apple pie! Because AMERICA!”
There were a lot of rockets like this in the classic Looney Toons. I think Duck Dodgers’ ship looked a lot like the Baron’s “Mind Mizzile”.
For a second I thought this was actually happening right now in the story and I was reeeeeally confused.
So–I guess now we know what Werner von Braun was up to in this reality. 😀
Captain Victory’s the other Star-Spangled Man With A Plan.
He should throw open the sonic oscillator THREE… MORE… POINTS!
The baron won’t survive the launch if he continues standing next to the mizzile – or does it only mentally travel to DC?
