You really have to question the wisdom of a man who would provoke a woman who could crush him like a bug with her mind.

Not to mention a rather emotional unstable woman.

Indeed. It’s always the quiet ones…

Oh, there’s no question about Henry’s wisdom.
He has none.
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Apparently not. Or at least, he has less sense than he has arrogance.
Ndrummond
Dude!! Even the SNOW won’t touch her! Frozen water has more sense than you!!!
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
And of all of water’s states, frozen has the least developed self-preservation instinct.

iwould you agree that chapter 3 is the calm before the storm
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Well, chapter 4 will be a bit stormier, yes.

Women in today’s world – IMHO – fail to realize the sheer power within their grasp to put a swift end to 98% of the bulls**t that goes on in the world (all due to patriarchy and the effects of testosterone poisoning)…

I found the last few panels of last week’s strip confusing with regards to who sees whom, and when. I didn’t say anything then because I thought this week’s strip might clear it up, but it hasn’t. It seems that Agnes rushed out to distract Henry from seeing Walter, but how did she know what was about to happen? She was clearly inside her own hut with the door closed before Henry came around the corner or Walter came out of Kate’s hut.
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
I think you probably have all the details right. Agnes had definitely gone inside her hut, and then just as Walter was about to come out of Kate’s hut and run into Henry, Agnes came bursting out. Since we don’t see Walter on this page, it seems that he went back into Kate’s hut or snuck away (this will be revealed in the next page).
Why did Agnes come rushing out of her hut at that moment? Did she know that Walter was about to get caught? And if so, how did she know? These questions are unanswered for now…
Ndrummond
Perhaps woman’s intuition? or maybe Lady Liberty’s abilities go beyond what anyone suspects? Let the speculation BEGIN!!!!!
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Speculators gonna speculate!

Funny ascribing frozen water molecules with “instinct” like organic beings.
The weather reflects her attitude here.

The harder the catch, the bigger the prize. The more danger there is, the sweeter the triumph.
If only guys could get over their own egos.
Ndrummond
I think if Jackass-Be-Nitwit here tried to get over his ego, he’d need mountain climbing gear.

That or Agnes “mind whammies” him into next week.
http://marycatelli.livejournal.com/ Mary
Why “or”? It can be “And.” Not to mention that others could show up if the ruckus is loud enough. Nice if Hartmann did. An unified front against Henry would help him fit in. And he has reason to be grateful to Agnes.
Hilarity Jane
I hope Luke turns up. That would be fun!
http://marycatelli.livejournal.com/ Mary
Altogether now!
Mr BreaksIt
Ooh… Henry is NOT gonna be up and about the next day. They’ll probably have to sow him back together
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Some of you are having way too much fun imagining all the different people who might beat Henry up!
Eonknight
Funny… and here I am thinking that Henry will run into Max after a stern rejection by Agnes and slap the kid a little too hard, possibly prompting a surge of leadership from Luke. Aw, hell, I can’t wait for the next few updates!
Ndrummond
Don’t blame us! Al made him the kind of character you want to SEE get beat up.
I’m hoping that Henry gets some sort of redemption arc, because he really is an unrepentant asshole at this point.
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Well, Hartmann shot a defenseless cripple in the head, and he’s turning himself around, so anything’s possible…

See, I was thinking this would be Walter’s cue to come in and save the day…with all the complications that would involve, mostly explaining why he was near the women’s barracks at oh-dark-thirty.
Then I realized…Agnes doesn’t need saving. Or so I hope. She’s the only one of the Specialists who we haven’t seen do something cool yet. Here’s hoping this is her chance.
JeffD
My head-version of next comic goes something like this right now. Walter’s ducked back into the women’s barracks-
Walter: Uh oh. I’m going out there.
Kate: No, wait!
Walter: We can’t just sit here. We have to save-
Kate: I agree, but you can’t get caught here! I’ll go.
Walter: What makes you think Henry will listen to two gals instead of one?
*pause*
Kate: No, you idiot. I’m going out there to save Henry.

The fact that both teams are experiencing drama and portray so many different POVs towards their roles, the war, each other makes this a much more realistic story. …as opposed to some teams who experience a little scuffle or two and become best buds forever.
Please keep the animosity between characters. It maintains a certain level of realism in the story.
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Well, they’re going to have to come together at some point, but they still have plenty of issues to work out in the meantime.
Ben
You know what would be awesome? Seeing him appear remorseful, or at least frustrated-with-himself after this. I mean, I know he’s an asshole, but it would be cool to see him develop some depth beyond that. There’s a hint of it in the strip where he brags to the butler and asks where his dad is (secretly yearing for dad’s approval in life?) but beyond that he’s very flat. Not that strange, considering how many other interesting characters you guys have got that take precence. But this partly makes me think he’ll either be kicked out or go evil (nazi? rogue? rival specialist group?) – but it would still be sweet to see signs of him growing as a character (but still being flawed – if somewhat less) – after getting his just deserts, of course.
http://thespecialistscomic.com/ Shawn Gustafson
Keep in mind that we’re still way closer to the beginning of our story than the end. We certainly don’t intend for Henry to be a one-note character, but it’s going to take some time to develop him.
